Gadisar Lake

Gadisar Lake was built in the 14th century by Maharawal Gadsi Singh, the then ruler of Jaisalmer. It was originally created as a water conservation reservoir to provide drinking water to the arid region. Over time, it became a significant place for religious and cultural activities.
Architecture & Surroundings: The lake is surrounded by intricately carved temples, chhatris (cenotaphs), shrines, and ghats. The entrance to the lake is through the Tilon Ki Pol, a beautifully carved archway, which was built by a wealthy courtesan. The lake is home to several species of migratory birds, making it a great spot for birdwatching, especially in winter.
